Baby Boomers

Synopsis:
A stunning piece of physical theatre, Baby Boomers substitutes language for balloons, and blends mask, puppetry and extreme balloon modelling to tell stories of love, loss and regret. What do you do after a tragic event if you can get over it but your partner just can't? Where can you go, what can you do? Acclaimed director, John Wright co-founder of Trestle and Told by an Idiot tells the heart warming story of a young couple from their first meeting and follows them through the life they make together. But a tragic loss is set to change their lives forever and force them to make a choice.

Evocation Of Papa Mas

Synopsis:
When the plantation owner, Mr Walker, kills a penniless street beggar trying to court his daughter, he's haunted to the grave and into the spirit world beyond - to a point where carnival is his only option. Set in a cartoon world, The Evocation of Papa Mas is a love story and a mischievous parody which is sometimes surreal, sometimes beautiful and poignant, yet shocking and raucously funny at the same time.

Fragility Of X, The

Synopsis:
When a woman and her autistic teenage son reach breaking point, they set off on an extraordinary journey. Bursting with the ambivalent and chaotic feelings of a parent/child relationship and underscored with a theatrical style that relishes treating the darkest of material with the lightest of touch. A funny, bleak yet strangely life-affirming production about boundaries, freedom, relationships and art. Unblinkingly unsentimental, funny, alarming and provocative.

Notes:
Coal is interested in taking human stories And making theatre that is dark, funny And daring in both subject matter And form. Coal Aims to make theatre that is imaginative And challenging whilst remaining Accessible to wider Audiences. I Can't Wake Up

Synopsis:
The Glumov family has fallen on hard times but by wit, cunning and flattery Yegor soon worms his way into the influential society of the newly rich. A satirical comedy. But the secrets they tell him end up in his diary, and his diary has been found! Backstabbing, greed, blind ambition and some wonderfully odd characters combine with Told by an Idiot's bold energy to create a truly theatrical, heartfelt and touching piece that is as provocative and pertinent as it was in 1868.

King Arthur

Synopsis:
If we were to stumble upon a cave and find a king asleep with all his knights, talking in his sleep, remembering, what would there be worth hearing in that ancient dream for us now? Jamie Crawford has delved into the earliest sources as well as subsequent re-workings to find a living connection between the Arthurian story and 21st century Britain. By turns playful, tragic and mysterious, this spirited new show cuts through the cliches surrounding King Arthur, bringing to life the passions and flaws that beset the Fellowship of the Round Table from its inspired rise to its violent fall. the show deals with the central story of the Arthurian cycle; from Arthur's conception to his passing, focussing on Arthur himself, Morgana, Merlin, Mordred, Guinevere and Lancelot. Among the episodes covered are, the sword in the stone, the lady of the lake, the Holy Grail and the final battle at Camlann, as well as many lesser known parts of the story.
