Hang Down Your Head And Die

Synopsis:
It was improvised at a workshop, developed into a script by David Wright rather than Brabham Murray, who directed it. It was first performed by the Experimental theatre Club of Oxford University in 1963, at the Oxford Playhouse. It was experimental theatre; included songs, dance, mime, Punch & Judy, folklore -- anything appropriate. the theme was capital punishment; the format was a circus, with ringmasters as the Establishment, strongman as Hangman, clown as Condemned, carpet clowns as vox pop.
