Synopsis: | Thyestes is an adaptation of Seneca's great tragedy. Atreus, ruler of Argos, is tortured by a desire for revenge against his brother Thyestes, who not only stole the crown they were supposed to share, but also slept with his wife, Aerope. Having successfully driven Thyestes into hiding, Atreus hatches a wicked scheme to pay his brother back. Feigning forgiveness, he invites Thyestes and his two daughters back to the palace, where he mercilessly slaughters the girls and, and a disturbing public banquet, feeds their flesh to their unwitting father. | |||||
