Cutting Room, The

Synopsis:
Rilke is a gay Glaswegian auctioneer who stumbles across a cache of disturbing pornographic photographs from the late 1940s while clearing the antique-stuffed house of a rich dead man. Do the photographs show what they seem to? Or are they an elaborate construct? Rilke s empathy towards the anonymous victim in these photographs develops into an obsession that takes him on a quest through every stratum of the city of Glasgow: a journey into the past that leads towards the present and some kind of truth.

adapted by Tam Dean Burn from the book by Louise Welsh. The Cutting Room is Scotland's latest literary success. Inspired partly by hard-boiled American crime fiction and partly gothic literature, it is currently being translated into 12 languages and made into a feature film. It has been awarded the CWA John Creasey Memorial Dagger, BBC's Underground 2003 Award and shared The Saltire First Book Award. It was also nominated for the Orange Prize.

Devil Inside, The

Synopsis:
The Devil Inside is a gritty, glittery, Faustian folktale, set firmly in the twenty-first century. Inspired by The Bottle Imp, a short story by Robert Louis Stevenson, this brand-new opera echoes his most famous tale The Strange Case Of Doctor Jekyll And Mr Hyde. Two friends stumble upon a bottle that will change their lives, a bottle that can grant any wish. But there's a catch and the bottle demands a payment. . .Will the pair find their happy-ever-after or will the bottle be their undoing?

Importance Of Being Alfred, The

Synopsis:
In 1918 Hugh Pemberton Billing, MP for East Hertfordshire was sued for criminal libel by Maud Allen, a dancer. She was accused in a newspaper article of being being a lesbian German agent corrupting prominent members of society and thus undermining the war effort. Lord Alfred Douglas (Bosie) was one of Billing's keenest supporters.

A locked door that sparks an obsession so strong that the boundaries between reality and fantasy begin to blur.A modern-day bar where three people who are trying to escape their past collide, uncovering a terrible secret and unleashing tragedy. Since 2009, Scottish Opera and Music theatre Wales have regularly presented productions of contemporary opera at the Traverse. This double bill brings together the creative energies of both companies for the first time, exploring the capacity of the mind to shape our lives through the potency of imagination and the overwhelming power of memories. Huw Watkins and Stuart MacRae hail from a generation who are rapidly establishing themselves amongst the leading composers in the UK. Panic Patterns

Synopsis:
Ornithologists Jacq and Fay are on a remote island in the far north of Scotland investigating sudden changes in bird migration patterns. Fay believes these changes signify forthcoming disaster. Jacq thinks the isolation is making her younger lover paranoid. But they were meant to leave the island three days ago, their boat home still hasn't arrived and their radio has been dead for a week. When the decommissioned lighthouse across the bay shines back into life, the two women are forced to make a crucial decision. Sometimes tender, sometimes disorientating, Panic Patterns draws on contemporary fears to create an edgy, suspenseful Drama for a new decade
