Biography of Tom Wilson Weinberg

Tom started out as a singer songwriter. He recorded his first album in 1979 "The Gay Name Game" which was one of the first gay-themed records. At this time he had dropped the "Weinberg" part of his name and was known just as Tom Wilson. He sang at various bars and coffee houses and gay pride rallies and recorded a second album "All-American Boy". In 1981 he was living in Minneapolis with his lover, physician John White and putting on various musical revues based on material from his two albums. He decided to use his full name professionally. In 1984 Tom and John moved to Boston where Tom wrote "Ten Percent Revue" with actor/singer Joey Brandon. It was an immediate hit and has appeared all over the States and in Barcelona. It won the Bessie Smith Award as well as two Los Angeles Drama-logue Awards. Tom's song "Lesbian Seagull" was featured in the film "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" sung by Englebert Humperdinck. The cd of the soundtrack went platinum and was in the Billboard charts for over 20 weeks.
