Blake Walton is a New York City area based actor, director and playwright. Born and raised in Michigan, he majored in Dramatic Arts at Eastern Michigan University then moved to New York to attend the Neighborhood Playhouse School where mentor William Esper and legend Sandford Meisner were key influences in his development as an actor. He would not discover playwriting until acting in many new plays in New York, most notably as Mark in the original, now historic, production of Doric Wilsons The West Street Gang. Working in the box office at Circle Rep he saw the development of the plays of David Mamet (Reunion) and Lanford Wilson (The 5th of July, Talleys Folly) whose lyric realism style he would later emulate. When friend Amy Whitman displayed a similarity in writing style and substance they embarked on the adventure of writing a full-length play together. The result was Eb & Flo, produced at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia as part of an experimental theater series. Though acting, directing and teaching took precedence through the years, he wrote the plays Streetwalk Serenade, Out of My Mind, The Better Man and is finishing True Blue and Henry Three and is co-writing with Ann Morrison a two-hander for them to perform based on comedienne Beatrice Lillie Heard There Was A Party. Came. In addition he wrote and directed the web series The misAdventures of Wendell Burke, the TV pilot Bus and Truck and screenplays based on his plays Out of My Mind and The Better Man (Man Up). Under the pseudonym Walton Hawling he is writing a gay romance novel The Cairngorms Stone set in 1860. He travelled throughout Florida and the Southeastern U.S. with Florida Studio Theaters Write-A-Play , a workshop introducing playwriting to nearly 20,000 middle and high school students culminating in the Edward Albee Young Playwrights Festival. He has taught playwriting for teens and adults and has developed a workshop with Ann Morrison Thats My Story And Im Sticking To It, encouraging others to write solo plays based on life stories. He wrote his first solo play Leading Men (2013 United Solo Festival Award Best Premiere) after performing Ann Morrisons Trevors Fire (2012 United Solo Festival Award Best Premiere) in the 2012 United Solo Festival.
