Notes:
Inspired by civil war in former Yugoslavia
Synopsis:
Two bit-players are POWs in a civil war. A brutalised female prison warden re-educates them for future life under the rule of their captors. Scene 1 Alex is on the floor, wrecked by brutal beatings. Zig comes in and continues with an interrogation started earlier. He spouts hate-fuelled political propaganda aimed at brainwashing the population. Scene 2 Same room. Zig is eating while prison warden Rose tells him stories from the front line. They used to be on the opposite sides in a war that still rages outside. Now Zig is co-operating. Scene 3 Alex and Zig are rearranging the furniture: they are preparing for some kind of public appearance. We learn more about their past relationship. All the while they are getting ready for a dramatic performance that their future depends on. Scene 4 Same room. The two men expect a visit by the Great Commandant who will decide their fate. Rose comes in alone. She carries out the process of assessment and decides if they are to be released. Things do not go according to anyone's plan.
