Synopsis: This poignant comedy is set in the wartime Rhondda and captures perfectly the claustrophobic yet protective and supportive atmosphere of life in the Welsh Valleys in 1942. The two central characters - Dilys, in love with an American GI and Sophie, frustrated at being unmarried and happy to settle for Dilys's dull brother- are contrasted and astutely observed, as are the other members of the household - Mother, nearing the end of her years and precocious Brenda, trembling on the brink of adolescence.

Synopsis: The story revolves around frustrated actor Teddy who has been passed over by producer Tarquin seemingly coming to the rescue of the am dram production of Annie after Tarquin has some sort of breakdown. Disaster strikes when both the girl playing Annie and the understudy come down with measles. How can the show go on? Teddy has the bright idea of making Lizt, who has coached the girls take their place. Only trouble is Liz is 62 and 4 foot three inches. Rather than want the show to be a success Teddy is actually sabotaging it (thus making Haydn's trousers bigger) and knows full well having Liz playing 12-year-old Annie will make the show a laughing stock. - Mike Smith, Western Mail
