Broken Beauties

Broken Beauties

Synopsis:
Powerful and moving, Broken Beauties is based around Broken Britain and British people struggling with day to day life. Set in a burlesque lounge in the depths of Peckham, directors Jemma Uttley and Rebecca Ludgrove (who are also Theatre Arts students), have created an emotional and poignant piece of theatre which captures a real sense of todays society. Broken Beauties is a serious and hard-hitting musical, touching on sensitive issues within todays modern society. Set in the streets of Peckham, at a time when the country is slowing falling apart. The working class struggle to survive and the rioting is becoming more and more deadly. Yet, inside one burlesque lounge, tucked away from the danger, people can escape and feel beautiful, even if it is just for a little while. Experience life in the lounge and embark on an emotional and insightful journey with some extraordinary individuals as they struggle with difficult, and sometimes catastrophic, life events. Will there be a happy ending?

Notes:
A brand new piece of contemporary writing, never before seen on stage, set to make you cry and perhaps even laugh at times. Broken Beauties aims to inspire and move you as you journey into the minds of the characters and see life through the eyes of the less fortunate. The lounge awaits you. . .
