Kate Tarker's plays include: "the Green" (recipient of the Kennedy Center ACTF National Science Playwriting Award), "Laura and the Sea," "An Almanac for Farmers and Lovers in Mexico," "Concertina," and "Paper Cut." Her work has been produced or developed by Yale, 59E59 Theaters, LOCAL lab, the Theater Masters National MFA Playwrights Festival in Aspen/NYC, and the National New Play Network at the Kennedy Center. She has received a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, a Kaspar T. Locher Scholarship, and a Stephen B. Timbers Scholarship. At the Yale Cabaret, she recently directed "all of what you love and none of what you hate;" she also worked on the devised piece, "Cat Club." She has mentored playwrights at the New Haven Co-Op High School and will be teaching at Wesleyan this fall. Kate is a member of the Dramatists Guild. B.A. Reed College. M.F.A. candidate, Yale School of Drama '14.

Almanac for Farmers and Lovers in Mexico, An

Synopsis:
Flora and Pele are so very in love, and just a few days away from their Mexican wedding. Only hitch to getting hitched: Pele seems to have transformed into a bird. Flora is keeping him in a little cage, negotiating with the judge, and trying to piece her cosmos back together.

Notes:
Nominated for The Kilroys 2015. The Kilroys is a group of playwrights and producers in LA who publish an annual industry survey of excellent new plays by female and trans playwrights. It is a tool for producers committed to ending the systemic underrepresentation of female and trans playwrights in the American theater.

Laura And the Sea

Synopsis:
It's company outing day, and Laura, one of the top travel agents of her generation, is having the best / worst day of her life. So much so that she decides to end it all. Afterwards, her colleagues try to piece things together on a memorial blog, but how do you mourn someone you didn't know that well? A comedy about depression, or: a treatise on travel agents who don't travel.

Thunderbodies

Synopsis:
The war is finally over. General Michail proposes to Grotildeso she skips ahead and plans the inevitable, but festive, divorce. Meanwhile, the weather is playing tricks on people, as is The President, and Grotilde's son won't accept the armistice. In this comedy of no manners, everyone is normible (both normal and terrible all at once)
