Maureen Mary Studer has spent three decades in the Theatre performing, directing, producing, teaching and most currently writing. She received her Bachelors degree with an emphasis in acting and directing and dabbled in playwriting at UC Riverside. Following that she worked as a consultANT in acting, teaching and freelance directing. After several years of freelancing, Maureen returned to school and earned her Masters in Arts, with an emphasis in history and criticism. After receiving her Masters, Maureen started teaching at Santa Rosa Junior College and continued to work as a consultANT in the Arts. After several years teaching, she left the field and working in the Theatre in it's entirety and ventured into the corporate world. It was at this point that she began writing in earnest. Since that time, she has had Accosted, a ten minute play produced at the San Francisco Fringe. Her most recently completed work, Righteous Devastation, is play about the effects of Co-Dependency on the family. Equivalent is a fictional anachronistic romp exploring the life in the wake of the American Revolution. Her first full length play, An Incomplete Life is about the effects of three different Gay and Lesbian individuals who are forced to remain closeted about their sexuality. Currently she is working on a play, Lost Art, a surrealistic piece about a young woman's vision for her life and her father's reluctance to approve.

Equivalent

Synopsis:
Fairman County finds itself in a quandary between applying the new principals of American Revolution and the strong hold of tradition. This anachronistic ribald comedy poses contemporary questions in an historical setting. the events of the play revolve around embezzlement, the quest for liberty, women in business, social status and gay marriage. With the advent of "freedom and social justice for all" in this small town there are a few things that have gotten out of whack for the Thomas family. This comedy, written in a style that pays homage to the restoration comedy, is a delightful romp into what might have happened if our forefathers had been insightful enough to understand the inevitable changes of the future of America.

Righteous Devastation

Synopsis:
At 4 a.m. on a windy Thanksgiving morning in the Sharpe household, Eva Sharpe is awake and busy, but she's not preparing the family's holiday feast. Instead, she telephones her estranged eldest daughter Angel with unsolicited advice and a plea to come home for the celebratory dinner. However, Angel has an agenda of her own with an inquiry about the family history that Eva strongly evades. As the mother and daughter argue and avoid, the entire household wakes, contributing to the growing chaos with a combination of personal conflict and misunderstanding. As a fall storm rails, dialing a wrong number turns into phone sex, a first date goes awry, Aunt Ruth loses her carefully constructed spiritual calm, the trickery of jam making is revealed, a cable guy gives lessons in life skills, and a tree falls in the living room. Each family member pursues an individual agenda with sometimes humorous, but potentially devastating results. At the center of the story, Eva and her husband Sam, married 28 years and having raised three children, must come to terms with long-held secrets that threaten not only their own well-being, but their entire family. the continuous action drives the characters to face themselves, their secrets, and an uncertain future, as the truth boldly changes everything the family has built.
