Dudleys, The

Synopsis:
This show is part of the Dream Up Festival. This is the official blurb: the Dudleys!takes the adolescent memories of a young man and translates them into a malfunctioning 8-bit video game, the kind he used to play. A life-size video game onstage provides the setting in which actors must score and overcome obstacles as they navigate their way through and overcome the dangers of the Dudleys! the production features a live band of all original music composed on vintage video game equipment (think Atari, Gameboy, and Commodore 64). This evocative new play pits the two dimensional world of happy endings up against the confusion and aimlessness of real life.

Spaceman

Synopsis:
Spaceman explores the depths of mankinds last unknown frontiers - outer space and a grieving heart - sending us on a . . .wonderful adventure for the entire world. In 2010, a bill was signed in the United States authorizing manned missions to the planet Mars by the 2030s. But, the reality of such a trip comes with a catch - such a flight would take over eight months, would be performed solo and would offer no return trip. In this brave and funny new play, the difficulties of interplanetary space travel are brought to life in exacting detail. Radiation exposure, long term weightlessness, low light, extensive communication delays and poor hygiene are just a few of the challenges astronaut Molly Jennis must face as the first to Mars. But she soon finds nothing compares to the psychological effects of having so much time alone. Time spent mulling over the decisions she has made and what might be waiting for her when she finally reaches her destination. Spaceman simulates space travel for the stage using low light, a claustrophobic set and simulated micro-gravity. the play will also use an immersive sound design featuring original works by experimental composers such as Kevin Drumm, Alva Noto, Daphne Oram, and Aiden Baker among others.
