Bone Portraits
Synopsis:
In 1895, a hapless inventor stumbles upon a light that burns through skin: in a flash, the X-ray is born. Blending gothic horror, old-time vaudeville, and sweeping romance, Bone Portraits takes us back to this moment of discovery, when the world split open like an atom and nothing could ever be seen the same way again. Bone Portraits examines 19th century inventiveness (the birth of film, electricity, and radiography) through the use of 21st century technology. Smashing live video against classic vaudeville routines, it tells the stories of the famous--including Thomas Edison and Marie Curie--and unknown people for whom the X-ray raised more questions than it answered.
