Nationality:    Australian
email:    n/a     Website:    n/a

Literary Agent:    n/a

Paul Spinks was raised in Benalla, northeast Victoria, and moved to Melbourne at age seventeen to work with the Tax Office. Naturally that motivated him to travel overseas where he discovered that if six months hitchiking around America didn't kill him nothing would. He later travelled around Australia and completed a BA. In the 1990s he concluded that submitting scripts for Australian TV was better than working in a warehouse, and had a few produced. Driving Force is his first play and was long-listed for the 2004 ANPC Conference.

        Driving Force

Driving Force

Synopsis:
Gail de Jong's comfort zone is shattered when she arrives home to discover and intruder - who claims to be her daughter. Driving Force is a funny, irreverent play about a single woman who gains an instant extended family. It explores the conflict between sexual desire, our need to nurture, and society's inept attempt to control it all without hurting anyone. It asks the question, what drives us? Is it curiosity, ambition, love or desire? Do we act according to our whims, or are we simply pawns in a process we don't understand?
