Dawn Sofia is an actor/writer, born in Brooklyn 07 Jan 1954, living in Manhattan. She credits the Herbert Berghof Studio as her artistic home where she has studied acting since 1979 with mentor Michael Beckett. She workshopped her first original play, As Directed, in his Advanced Class. Under Mr. Beckett's direction, the play made its debut to critical acclaim at Theater for the New City in SKT's premiere production of Trapped: An Evening of Two One-Act Dramas, which included Darlene Troiano's The Invisible Miss Whitney. Later Dawn did special performances of As Directed at HB Studio, Stage Left Studio's Women at Work Theatre Festival and at the 2011 United Solo Theatre Festival on Theatre Row where it was chosen to be published as part of United Solo's collection on www.indietheater.now. Dawn has played a succession of solo plays including Dorothy Parker's short story Cousin Larry in An Evening of Dorothy Parker at Tribeca Lab in which Dawn adapted Ms. Parker's stories, poems and witticisms to the stage and at the Atlantic Fringe Festival in Canada to critical acclaim for her performance in Jean Cocteau's classic solo play, The Human Voice. Dawn also appeared in Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers at Center Stage and Edward Allan Baker's Dolores at the Broome Street Theatre.
