It Ain't No Sin         Woody Guthrie Dreams

It Ain't No Sin

Synopsis:
This show is part of the Dream Up Festival. This is the official blurb: Tires on gravel, brakes. Gasoline stink. A car door opens and shuts. Sweat, mosquito bites, crunch crunch, across the lot, an idling truck, neon, the door swings onto floorboards, spilled booze, spit, tobacco juice. Have a cold one. There's a scratch on your neck. Hey, fuck you, friend. The joint is filling up. Eugene's in town? Have another. You're going to run into three people you haven't seen in a while. Each of them has a thing to tell you.

Woody Guthrie Dreams

Synopsis:
Playwright Michael Patrick Flanagan Smith focuses on the last thoughts of Woody Guthrie in his new play with music, Woody Guthrie Dreams. As Huntington's Disease takes hold of his mind and body, Guthrie looks back on his life through dreams, revisits long-forgotten memories, and reminisces on his musical achievements, including the songs he played across the nation with Pete Seeger, Cisco Houston, and Lead Belly. He also revisits his whirlwind romance with Martha Graham dancer Majorie Mazia, his second wife. Guthrie battles his own fears, insecurities, and debilitating illness, all the while throwing himself into a wild attempt at creating a better world, one sung chorus after another.
