Kevin Scully was born in Sydney, Australia, where he grew up and was educated. He started his professional life as a journalist, first in newspapers, then in television and radio. He trained as an actor at NIDA and combined the careers of acting and writing for ten years before moving to England. He has had ten stage plays produced, two radio plays broadcast, three books religious books published and has contributed to three other collections. He is a published poet and has won a number of short story competition prizes. He is a priest in the Church of England and lives in London. He is married to the singer Adey Grummet.
