Ed Schroeter has been telling stories since he was a small child growing up in Markham, Ontario. Ed began his professional writing career as a journalist, graduating from Carleton University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Journalism degree with Highest Honours. Wheatland Theatre produced Ed's first professional play while he was working as a theatre and film critic at the Regina Leader Post. Currently living in Peterborough, Ontario, Ed's writing speciality is historical fiction and current events drama. He has won four national playwriting awards for his work. He is currently the part-time Artistic Producer of the Arbor Theatre Company and a part-time elementary school teacher. Ed is also the creator and playwright-in-residence of the Heritage Pavilion Stage historical play series for young audiences, a joint venture of Arbor Theatre and the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives. The Dramatic History Series for Young People at Peterborough's Market Hall Performing Arts Centre is also his brainchild. Ed has conducted dozens of playwriting workshops throughout Ontario and Saskatchewan for students aged 8 to 18 and has taught playwriting at the college level.
