Synopsis: | Moira Gibson is a thirty something single mother struggling to bring up her three children in a Glasgow tenement, cleaning and taking in laundry to support her family. This tragic-comedy monologue looks at Munchausen's syndrome by proxy, a serious mental illness in which a carer, usually a parent, inflicts illness or injury on their child to draw attention to themselves. Moira is devastated after her husband deserts her for a younger woman and as he threatens to take their children to a better life in the country, Moira's actions will ultimately ensure that if she doesn't have custody of her children, nobody will. One of a series of monologues collectively entitled 'Red Man, Green Man'. | |||||
