The legendary cartoonist continued to write and draw the comic for the next 40 years and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for cartooning in 1998. The play weaves history and fantasy to create a touching and dramatic portrait of Ms. Messick's life and how her "creation" Brenda Starr affected not only the women in her life, but women around the world. The play is especially poignant because Dale Messick is the playwright's real grandmother. | |||||
