Lace Curtains

Synopsis:
"Lace Curtains" is a wonderfully compelling play of two distinct stories, both having to do with none other than. . .Lace Curtains! ACT I finds a family about to attend a wedding, but the bride is. . ..well. . ..that "must" remain a surprise! Though steeped in tradition of family and it's most familiar and quirky dynamics, this tale will have you laughing one minute and quietly moved the next. ACT II is the second story and it is about 5 women whose paths never cross except one night in a train station. Each have left their everyday lives behind and wander into painful memories and new revelations. Though both stories portray the female triumph over life with it's many twists and turns they are both seductive, funny and even heart breaking. Set at any time and any place, it opens with a narrative that's direct but touching.

A provocative presentation of music, poetic readings, and song. Based on the true life story and memoirs of George W. Richardson an early black settler. . .. an African American of many talents. From the days of slavery on the plantations of Virginia to his families trek to the north we are given a glimpse into their everyday lives. In cooperation with the Du Sable African American museum and the Richardson/Parker family, "When Wild Geese Fly" is about the Richardson family legacy spanning from 1803 to 1939 with life lessons of home, family values and survival into the 20th century.
