Notes: | part of the 30th Annual Samuel French Short Play Festival
Synopsis: | THE SWEET ROOM explores the relationship of two young sisters living in New York City as they navigate the economies and moralities of their lives. What begins as a tale of a lurid date quickly turns into a quirky debate as Hannah and her older sister Madeline struggle and wise-crack through would-yous and could-yous. Hannah defends a free-spirit's yearning to experience her life to the fullest while Madeline seeks to ground herself in her scholastic work and even-keel approach. Both women's positions are put to the test when an unexpected pizza delivery lays their insecurities bare. The result leads the sisters to some laughable choices and unexpected insight into each others lives. Published in the collection Off-Off Broadway Festival Plays, 30th series.
