Born March 2, 1974, in St. John's Newfoundland, CanadA. Paul graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1995 with a B.A. in English with a concentration on Drama. It is during Paul's time at Memorial he honed his skills in various aspects of theatre including acting, stagecraft, production and directing. It was in 1995 Paul penned his first play, "Roomies" which was first staged at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre's Basement Theatre. The story about two college roommates, bad-boy Nick and sensitive David, during the 1960s was well received. The play was also a great move forward for persons with disabilities. The character "David" was written as having a disability and his subsequent storyline focuses on personal acceptance of that disability. The script itself also calls for a disable actor to play the role. Power played the role in 1995. Power has lives with a disability requiring leg braces and crutches since birth. "I wanted a character with a disability to be seen as a whole person," said Power at the time. "Not just a person with a disability." The play was remounted in 1996 at the famed LSPU Hall located in St. John's. In the late 1990s Power left Newfoundland to attend Ryerson Polytechnic Univeristy in Toronto where he graduate in 1997 with a B.A.A. in journalism. He then worked as a researcher and sometimes associate producer with TVOntario in Toronto on a current affairs show entitled "The Parent Connection" Power returned to Newfoundland in 1998 and took a position as communications specialist.communications director with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador where he used his writing skills to produce promotional materials as well as speeches for a number of government members at the Ministerial level. From 1999-2001 Power wrote a regular column for The Telegram newspaper (St. John's) as part of their community editorial board feature. In 2002 Power debuted his second theatrical offering, the comedy/Drama "Last Chance". Again, not shying away from social issues, the story centred on the character of Josh who was coming to terms with his homosexuality and revealing this to his sometimes overbearing father. "Last Chance" played at the LSPU Hall in St. John's. From 1997-2005 Power was a regular cast member with the St. John's, Newfoundland based Shakespeare By the Sea Festival, appearing in a number of Shakespeare Plays including MacBeth, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night and A Winters' Tale, among others. From 2004-2005 he was also a regular member of the improv comedy troupe, Weapons of Mass Distraction. In 1995 Power relocated to Calgary, Alberta to take a communications manager position. It was here he became involved with the Liffey Players Drama Society, a theatre company that specializes in theatrical works either by or about the irish. In 2006 he captured the lead role in Liffey's production of "The Course" by Brendan O'Carroll. He followed that with the role of Lord Saville in "Bloody Sunday: Tales From the Saville Inquiry". In 2007 Power became President of the Liffey Players Drama Society and also received a Calgary ACTS Theatre Award for outstanding voluntarism contribution for his work with Liffey. Power continues to write and is currently developing new pieces of work to showcase with Liffey as well as bring his previous works to the Calgary stage. Power has been the subject of many profiles in the media where his work has been highlighted as well as his determination in overcoming issues related to living with a physical disability.

Roomies

Synopsis:
It's September 1968 and rebel Nick is in his final year of college. he's a smooth talker and charmer with the ladies which is why he has always managed to "negotiate" his own private room in the dorm. Not this year. New head dorm monitor independent eminist Diane is immune to Nick's charm and assigns him a brand new roommate for the year, David. The two new roomies clash as David, a young insecure man struggling with his identity and challenges living with a physical disability is quite a contrast to the selfish and usually insensitive Nick. Over the course of one school year the two men go from adversaries to friends and develop a strong bond as they both teach each other that disabilities aren't always apparent. Add in a sex starved fading beauty house mohter, Ms. Cracker, and an uptight professor, Dr. Sheppard who is bent on giving Nick a hard time and you have the makings of a hilarious sometimes poignant Drama.
