"I hail originally from Manchester but am now living in a small town in beautiful, rural Snowdonia, North Wales. I have been involved in the theatre for well over thirty years as an actor, producer, director and writer. I have written/directed stage plays, pantomimes, musicals and produced/directed several short films. I have also built sets, changed scenery, pulled the curtain, swept the stage and made the tea [ not all at the same time!]. I have written several feature length screenplays of which two have been optioned. One is currently with a producer in the USA who hopes to sell it to Netflix. My debut novel 'The Girl With The White Flag,' a 'noir' mystery thriller featuring Eddy Boyle as a hard-bitten private eye suffering from PTSD has been published by Bloodhound Books and is available on Amazon. A sequel is in the pipeline. My two-hander romantic comedy stage play, 'Butterfly in Shades of Blue', was taken to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014 where it ran successfully for the three weeks of the festival and received a 'highly recommended' from Paul Levy [Fringe Review]."

        Butterfly in Shades of Blue

Butterfly in Shades of Blue

Synopsis:
'Butterfly in Shades of Blue' is a romantic comedy, featuring just two actors, which follows the on-off relationship between Vicky and Stephen over a period of seventeen years. We grow to like these people and we want to know how their relationship is going to pan out because we see in them our own failings, hopes and dreams. The play is in turns thought provoking , hilariously funny and achingly poignant. Whether viewed as a superficial romantic comedy or as a much deeper reflection on modern relationships, this play hooks its audience from the very start and refuses to let go. Red Bullet Productions UK [www.redbulletproductions.co.uk]. 'Ed Penney is innovative in his writing and his skills come from an extraordinarily creative place. As a wordsmith he is unique: he has the ability to encapsulate the essence of a character in one line' Russell Grant
