Nir Paldi is a writer, director, performer and co-artistic director of Theatre Ad Infinitum. His training includes the two-year professional course at Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq as well as working with Ariane Mnouchkine at Theatre du Soleil in Paris. Nir directed Theatre Ad Infinitum's productions Odyssey, The Big Smoke and Ballad of the Burning Star. Odyssey won the Stage Award in 2009, The Small Scene Theatre Festival Audience Award in Croatia, and nomination for a Total Theatre Award in 2010. The Big Smoke won an Argos Angel Award at the Brighton Fringe 2011 and was nominated for a Canadian Dora Award and Manchester Theatre Award in 2011. Ballad of the Burning Star won The Stage Award for Best Ensemble, BroadwayBaby Award and The Guardian's Best of Edinburgh Festival. Working as a freelance director around the world, Nir also co-wrote and directed Juana in a Million, which won a Scotsman Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival 2012. Nir teaches theatre for adults and young people, is a visiting tutor at Rose Bruford College, and co-runs Theatre Ad Infinitum's master classes for industry professionals.

Synopsis:

Big Smoke, The

Synopsis:
In a courageous physical performance with a completely original text and score sung a cappella, Amy Nostbakken tells the story of a brilliant young artist from Toronto given the opportunity of a lifetime: a solo exhibit at London's Tate Modern Art Gallery. Nathalie has everything to live for: good looks, talent, a loving family, amazing scholarships and a career just waiting to take off. But just as she is rising to the heights of her potential, she begins to spiral down into the depths of depression.
