Glitz Dies - A Delicious Taste of Stardom

Synopsis:
An exploration using text, film, puppetry, movement and music to explore public obsession with 'the celebrity'. Inspired by the aftermath of Princess Diana's death, the two woman show is comprised of TV baby vignettes linked by the news of a pop icon's death. The Performance Space supported these two emerging performers throughout 1999 with workshop space and regular showings.

Synopsis:
Eighteen and eighty: two ages that bookend a life. One represents untold potential; the other, the accumulation of a lifetime of experiences. Based on interviews with people experiencing these two very different milestones, Hello, Goodbye & Happy Birthday is the powerful new work from Malthouse Theatres 2013 female director-in-residence, Roslyn Oades. Playful and affecting in equal measure, this show sees Oades continue her groundbreaking headphone verbatim documentary theatre technique, bringing an extraordinary immediacy and vividness to the performances.

I'm Your Man
Set in a Bankstown boxing gym, I'm Your Man is an adrenaline-pumping contemporary Drama about the meaning of masculinity, courage and respect. Armed with her tape recorder, theatre director Roslyn Oades spent months following the stories of up-and-coming boxers, past legends and failures. Wearing earpieces, Oades' actors speak their lines directly from her carefully edited recordings from those ringsides, gyms and dressing rooms. the dreams of glory or escape in this boxing ring are real. No ordinary slice of life, this is fuelled-up, high-stakes theatre, up-close in this intimate venue - and with truly original voices.
