Deborah has directed over 20 plays - many of them professionally and written 7 major plays - all of which have been performed several times to box office and critical success. Deborah has post graduate qualifications, taught English literature and drama and been an examiner for both areas for the NSW Department of Education and Training. She has trained applicants for acting schools all over the world - all have been accepted with high entrance marks. Member of the following: Invited fellow Cambridge University (England) Footlights Revue 1973; Member Ars Viva 1976-1979; President of the Illawarra Council for the Performing Arts 1984/85; Business Manager (and Life Member) of Wollongong Workshop Theatre 16 years (1978- 2008) ; Founding member of Lake Theatre Group; Founding member of Parramatta Theatre Company; memberships with Arcadians Theatre Group, Roo Theatre Company, and now resident playwright for Factory Space Theatre Company. Cry Wolf (Honorable Mention New York New Works of Merit Playwriting Competition 2003, performed in New York at 13th St Repertory Co. Oct/Nov 2004) Performed at Workshop Theatre July 2004. Factory Space production July 2006 in Sydney. Other original plays include Gentlemen Incorporated (optioned for film), The Jocasta Complexity and Hell's Belles.
