Synopsis: | Eleena Misra created the concept of the show "Speed Dating" in response to Channel 4's competition "The Play's The Thing" and just missed the shortlist. Undeterred, this show was pitched for SEDOS and the script was finalised after a devising process involving each actor in the same vein as the recent UK comedy film "Confetti". The show follows the dating successes and pitfalls of a range of characters all of whom have their own peculiar reasons for attending the speed dating night. As such, while some of the scenarios are somewhat too extreme to have been born of real life experience, many of the "moments" in the show were created on reflection, in memory of or as therapy in relation to the various dating mishaps, faux-pas and happy endings we can all relate to. From boy-girl stereotypes to multi-cultural questions, from conspiracy theories to the Spearmint Rhino, it's all here in just over an hour and 15 minutes of mayhem. | |||||
