Christmas Carol, A

Christmas Carol, A
Oh, but he was a squeezing, wrenching, scraping, grasping kind of a Scrooge; a clutching, covetous old sinner. . . Using only Charles Dickens' extraordinary words and a chameleon ensemble of eight actors, Neil Bartlett's 'a Christmas Carol' brings a boldly theatrical imagination to bear on a classic story.

Johnny Got His Gun

Synopsis:
Always here the same people willing to sacrifice somebody else's life. But it's time two people had a say in things: us little guys and the dead. When the call came, idealistic Joe Bonham eagerly volunteered for the trenches of World War One. Now he has paid a price he never expected, and far away from his American homeland he struggles to come to terms with what his world has become. As his grip on reality becomes ever more tenuous he reflects on the true nature of war and the choices he made. Metal Rabbit brings the UK premiere of Oscar-winner Dalton Trumbo's classic anti-war novel to Southwark Playhouse in the form of Bradley Rand Smith's Obie-winning adaptation. Starring Jack Holden (War Horse) and directed by Fringe First winner David Mercatali (Dark Vanilla Jungle), this is the perfect play to mark the centenary of World War One. A brutal, intense one man show with an incredibly powerful message about the cruelty of war and the way the military treats those who suffer in its service.

Lardo

Synopsis:
Morbidly obese, girlfriendless and abandoned by his best friend, Lardo is determined to join the glamorous bad boys of the Scottish wrestling scene, Tartan Wrestling Madness. When his dream finally comes true Lardo swiftly becomes an overnight sensation, but the massive highs and crippling lows of being a professional wrestler soon threaten to overwhelm this unlikely hero. As his real life descends into something reminiscent of a wrestling storyline, Lardo has to decide what his priorities are, who he can trust, and whether he can retain his love for the sport that made him great. And as always in professional wrestling, accounts must finally be settled in the ring. . . Lardo is a big, bold look at the most ridiculous sport of our time - those who make it, those who hate it, and the crowds who adore it. Featuring (almost) real stunts, full-scale audience fight interaction (throwing beer/insults encouraged), and enough spandex to throttle a horse, Lardo is the ultimate steel-cage, no-mercy, royal-rumble of theatre for spring 2015.

Radiant Vermin

Synopsis:
Ollie and Jill want to tell you about their dream home. Some of the things they did to get it you might find... shocking. But they want you to know - whatever they did - they did it all for their baby. A wickedly comic satire about a young couple offered a way out of the housing crisis, and just how far they're prepared to go to get everything they've always wanted.
