Synopsis: | Cloaked is a gender bending drama about power, morality and fear. With a renaissance flavor, and colored with sexuality and humor, this play presents contemporary themes that affect our current arguments on gender, religious convictions, archaic judicial precepts and the devastating effects of intolerance. Inspired by Francisco Ors 1970s play Contradance, Cloaked is the story of a man in love with another man, whose circumstances force him to obscure his gender and whose fears deny him the power to rule his destiny. Crowned Queen, he must rule a country, defend her subjects, and oppose the wrath that condemns his nature. Bending the line between truth and fiction, Cloaked creates a theatrical reality that involves the audience in a healthy exchange of ideas pertinent to our everyday lives, and our current stance in judicial and religious views on homosexuality. | |||||
