As a playwright Philip's credits include "Murder, Margaret and Me" whichhas toured the UK extensively and was a hit at the New York Fringe Festival in 2014, "Kiss Me Honey Honey!" which won a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013, "Keeping up with the Joans" which was produced by Greenwich Theatre, starring Susan Penhaligon and Katy Manning and the acclaimed ghost story "Edith in the Dark" which was the first play to be commissioned by Harrogate Theatre in over twenty years. Philip's first play "Twinkle Little Star", about the last great pantomime dame, premiered in 2006 starring Tim Healy. It's gone on to have productions at York Theatre Royal and Everyman Cheltenham. "Murder, Margaret and Me" and "Edith in the Dark" are both published by Samuel French. In television Philip spent several years as part of the writing team of "Emmerdale." He has contributed to "Heartbeat" and "Doctors" and has developed original series including "Mother Truckers" for Denise Welch with ITV and family drama "Last of the Darlings" with World Productions. He recently developed "Prayers for the Dead" a new crime series for ITV Studios and the sitcom version of "Kiss Me Honey Honey" has recently been optioned by Solus Productions in Glasgow. His first play for Radio 4 broadcast this August, an episode of the popular legal series "Brief Lives"

Edith In the Dark

Edith In the Dark
Celebrated children's author Edith Nesbit escapes her annual Christmas Eve soiree and finds herself in her attic writing room with a young male guest and Biddy Thricefold, her loyal housekeeper. the trio decide to observe the festive tradition of reading scary stories to help ward off wicked spirits, choosing the stories penned by Nesbit herself. Yet as they breathe life into these terrifying creations, all is not as it seems. . . One of the people in the attic is hiding a deadly secret.

I Met a Man Who Wasn't there

Synopsis:
Edgar Rhyme, once a famous psychic with an ardent flock of followers, now lives alone in a cluttered upstairs flat in a fading northern seaside town with his beloved jazz music. As he mourns the loss of his wife, Edgar attempts to block out all contact with the spirit world but something is trying to break through to him. Amanda Schilling, an investigative journalist with a chequered career, wants to interview Edgar for a high-profile series she is writing about British obsessions. She feels Edgar will be the perfect subject for a piece about spiritualism. Edgar is cautious, but the payment Amanda offers persuades him to talk. As Edgar tells her the story of his life, she becomes aware that a frightening force has reached Edgar before she has and will use him to unearth her own terrible secret. the mismatched pair soon realise why they have been drawn together. As they discover the importance of the decisions they will make during the long dark night, an eerie image of a small boy appears in the mottled mirror above Edgars fireplace - slowly growing stronger& and getting angrier. . .

Keeping Up With the Joans

Synopsis:
As a noted local Drama group prepares to celebrate an important anniversary, two of its former leading lights, Zilla Mint and Kitty Feathers, find that looking back can stir up memories that would have been best left lying. With the help of their carer at the Rye Hill Rest Home for Professional Ladies, old grievances are tackled head on because a decision has to be made. Both Zilla and Kitty took it in turns to play St Joan in the glory days of the Gimcrack Players. But who was the greatest Joan of all?
