Nationality:    USA
email:    n/a     Website:    n/a

Literary Agent:    n/a

Ellen McHenry is an American, but has a passion for imagining what it is like to live in other countries and other cultures. She has traveled to Haiti, the Netherlands and England and has been to most of the US states. More than travel, she enjoys reading historical fiction novels that can take you to places and time periods you'd otherwise never get to visit. She has homeschooled her four children (a very popular trend in America) so that she can pass on to them her love of learning . She has developed her own science curricula, including a ground-breaking chemistry program for ages 8-12. She invents educational games, songs, skits and activities, many of which are available for download at her website ellenjmchenry.com. She is a co-director of a large part-time school for homeschoolers in central Pennsylvania, and it was for this group of students that she began to write Drama scripts. The group had a need for classical theatre scripts written for a large group of enthusiastic young actors. Her first script was an adaptation of "Cyrano de Bergerac." Since then she has also written scripts for "Treasure Island," "The Canterbury Tales," and a special version of "Much Ado" called "Much Ado About Nothing in Queen Elizabeth's Court." Ellen also enjoys attending professional classical theatre performances at The American Shakespeare Experience (Blackfriar's Theater) in Virginia, The Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, and the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Cyrano de Bergerac

Cyrano de Bergerac

Synopsis:
Set in the 1640's, the era of the Three Musketeers, the costumes and set can be a lot of fun to create. This adaptation of Cyrano is ideal for any Drama group looking for a classic play with a relatively large cast. (The addition of non-speaking extras in many of the scenes will increase the impact of the performance.) This script stays true enough to the original script that it is a good representation of the original play by Edmond Rostand. Great swashbuckling fun!
