A former high school drama teacher, Jason is a playwright, screenwriter, film critic and outdoor adventure writer. Over the years his plays have been published in several different anthologies. Numerous productions of these plays and others have been performed throughout the United States and Europe. As a young writer he received three Meritorius Achievement Awards from the American College Theatre Festival for excellence in playwrighting; and his play "Dying Light" was selected as the Best New Play at the Northwest Drama Conference in 1995. Jason's Brechtian exploration of Native American rights and modern environmentalism entitled, "Endangered Species," was selected as a finalist in the Earth Matters on Stage conference in Humboldt, California in 2004. As a screenwriter, Jason adapted John Weld's book "Fly Away Home" into a screenplay for Laguana Films in California. In additon to writing for theatre and film, Jason is a film critic and outdoor adventure writer who has seen his work published in newspapers and magazines throughout North America. Jason holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Endangered Species

Synopsis:
Modern Native Americans attempt to revitalize their traditional whale hunt in this Brechtian exploration of culture, tradition, and the environment. The play is split into two time frames. On one level, the audience watches the historical background of these people and how they lost their traditions. In the modern setting the audience sees this group of Native Americans fiercely fighting to regain that which they have lost.

Notes:
Endangered Species is A play About A group of modern Native Americans And their quest to reconnect with the past through A whale hunt. The play can be done with A small cast playing multiple roles or with A very large cast.

Fall From Grace

Synopsis:
A dying climber fights demons, real and imagined, on the icy flanks of a dangerous Alaskan Mountain. This play explores issues of responsibility and commitment, using the world of mountaineering as a complex metaphor. The piece is highly theatrical in nature and an extremely engaging ride.

Wishful Thinking

Synopsis:
In this one-act play, a nerdy teenage boy discovers he can control the actions of his classmates. Though this is a comic piece it explores the difficult moral world of teenage fantasy. This extremely funny piece is a joy to perform, but also a wonderful play for a teacher to use as a launching point for numerous classroom discussions.
