Synopsis: | Based around true characters. It is 1815. 9 year old Jean-pierre and 12 year old Hector arrive with their mother, Elizabeth to say goodbye to their rarely seen soldiering father, Jean baptiste. As a Belgian soldier seconded by the French, he had fought with Napoleon's army through Spain via Boulogne to Moscow. With Napoleon on Elba, the Belgian army were absorbed by the British and their Prussian allies. It is the eve of Waterloo. In an extraordinary but true situation, Jean baptiste is about to face his former friends and allies, now his enemies, on the field of battle. Wellington has given permission for such soldiers to be placed in reserve, away from the scene of battle. Can his family persuade him to take that option? Do they want him to? Elizabeth and Jean pierre say 'don't'; Hector 'yes'. The 12 year old wants to fight alongside his father. This play delves into the male need to fight. A theme with great resonances today (2010).

Notes: | earing completion March, 2010. I was fascinated by the characters in my one act play, Parky's Peace (see above) that I decided to dig deeper into their characters and situations and this two act play is the result. Similar characters (plus one extra), different situation/scenario.

Her daughter, Molly has long been estranged. Nanjo decides to sell her small terraced house and move into Paradise - a costly home for the elderly. She tears the plywood from the underside of the stairs cupboard and paints FOR SALE on it. Madison hears about it . . . and Molly. Is their interest concern at the possible loss of inheritance? Is it concern over the long time collapse of familial relationship? NanJo raises a lot of the crucial issues that affect so many individuals in the worlds' aging population.
