Synopsis:
Ludwig II of Bavaria reigned from 1864 until just days before his death in 1886. He is best known for his eccentricities and excesses, his extravagant castles and patronage of composer Richard Wagner, and for his mysterious death on Lake Starnberg just days after being locked away. Based on rigorous historical research, this is one of the author's principal works, in which she recreates fragments of the life, death and 'paradise' of this fascinating king, who crisscrossed politics, opera, desire and his descent into madness . . . or his greatest clarity.

Esteban, whose daughter is the same age as Nina and Blas and who has known them since they were children, hopes this encounter will offer them a solution to the struggle of their lives, held fast in their silent desperation. As the night draws on, Nina and Blas together seek a way to make the next day worth living.
