Follies of Grandeur
| | Company |
|
Synopsis:
Hollywood's Ivar Theater once featured a round-the-clock show advertising 'The Most Beautiful Girls in the World' at 'America's Home of Burlesk'. Patrons recall the Ivar as 'a sticky-floored dump' and 'a chamber of desperation, a mausoleum for souls--on and off the runway'. Lewd and notorious in its day, the Ivar inspired lyrics in the songs of Tom Waits, and photographer Garry Winogrand's images of the Ivar strippers have been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Follies of Grandeur follows the career path of Melody, a teenage drifter who aspires to greatness on the Ivar's runway. Playwright MacLean was the Ivar's stage manager and spoitlight operator for two years in the 1970s

Food
| | Company |
|
Synopsis:
Jos and his wife, Carol, are dinner guests at the home of Carol's brother Mack, and his wife Bonnie. Joe is unemployed. Mack had invited them over initially as a kindness to help his sister out, but this is the third week the two have been showing up for free meals and Carol's husband shows no signs of supporting himself. Mack is suffering financially from this sponging and the quality of the meals has turned wretchedly poor. The play is a sharp argument on dependence, responsibility and the decline in the quality of living.

Sluts
| | Company |
|
Synopsis:
Hedonism flirts with authority to an unhealthy degree. A group of gay men, finding themselves hard pressed by the outside society, make efforts to prove they are normal human be-ings, deserving of a place in the world. Unfortunately, they succeed. Moving from the caste of out-casts to renegades, they are absorbed into the mainstream at the expense of their uniqueness, their moral liberty and their own individuality.
