Dr Wirtz is severely wounded in a battle during the American Civil War. He is put in charge of a prison stockade. Due to conditions there hundreds of men die each day. after the War he is put on trial but claims he was only following orders

Synopsis:
A sexually promiscuous woman is found murdered in her bedroom. Her husband is put on trial and sentenced on circumstantial evidence. The presiding judge goes on holiday leaving a junior judge to oversee the execution. This judge has doubts about the man's guilt
