Beautiful Burnout
Four young men and a battling lassie are training in a Glasgow gym. They want to be champions and win fistfuls of money. They want to be like Calzaghe and land 950 punches out of 1000. Beautiful Burnout tells a bruising and lyrical tale of aspirations and counterpunches, delivered in a visceral, hearts-in-your-mouth production about one of the most controversial sports of our time.

Cesario
Synopsis:
Stratford-upon-Avon, 1596. Judith, daughter of William Shakespeare, wears boy's clothes just like her twin Hamnet and insists that she be called Cesario. Why? Because Hamnet is very ill. He may leave forever and she's not going to let that happen. Inspired by the twins in Shakespeare's plays, this funny and touching new play is performed by a cast of young people from London schools and youth theatres.

Cherished Disappointments In Love
Synopsis:
Cherished Disappointments in Love is a brilliantly funny, wildly savage and passionately original theatrical roller-coaster ride. a woman of a certain age is in love with Finland's youngest philosopher, Pekka Himanen. He is also loved by an army sergeant major who means to make a man of him. From the country who gave us saunas, Nokia and Mika Hakkinen, Cherished Disappointments in Love is a comic fantasia on love, philosophy and theatre. Shot through with an eroticism that engenders chaos, the time-honoured and eternal differences between male and female are played out upon the stage with wild, highly comic intensity.

Dirt
Synopsis:
Harper is about to die. Elle is her waitress. Matt will eventually sleep with them both. May tries to get through a lecture in quantum physics without her cell going off. Guy is a healer and, well, a guy. As these five lives sprawl and intersect, Bryony Lavery builds a stylish, sexy, and unnervingly funny exploration of the ways that modern life is suffocating us emotionally and physically. Harper cleans her apartment and body, getting later and later for her date with Matt. Matt sits at the health-checked, hygiene-ticked restaurant, calculating the precise number of minutes he's spent waiting for Harper in the past three years. Elle is the actress brand of waitress, full of facts from the documentaries she voice-overs, which she offers to the audience along with a running commentary on the not-so-great date unfolding before her. The date ends in an ugly exchange of words, so when Matt doesn't hear from Harper for five days afterwards, it never occurs to him it's because she's died. The procedural questions that amass in the aftermath of Harper's death - who done it? - evntually unfurl into a complex examination of what connects humans to the cities they live in, the soil they live on, and the people they share their lives with. As Guy and May's connections to Harper, Elle, and Matt emerge, Lavery's play explores dirt in its most intimate and cosmic scales: as debris; as the catch-all for basic human impulses of attraction, sex, and revulsion; and as a signpost for the ways that modern life ignores the universal processes of decay and regeneration.

Kursk
a submarine is on patrol in the arctic. The crew sleep, eat, drill, long for word from home, and silently shadow their target. Their lives, at once extraordinary and mundane, are shattered by a global crisis from which uniquely personal stories emerge. Inspired by the Russian submarine disaster of August 2000, in collaboration with Sound&Fury, Bryony Lavery's play imagines the life of submariners, deep below the icy seas on the fraying front line of the cold war.

More Light
More Light is an example of that rare genre, the cannibalism comedy. The play was apparently inspired by the Chinese Warrior exhibition that brought in armies of culture vultures to the British Museum last year. It is set in the tomb of a well-prepared Emperor who for some reason, though never seen, sounds exactly like a Dalek. as death approaches, the old man prepares himself, entombing not only his own carcass but an army cast in bronze (not terracotta), his finest courtiers and seven infertile, young wives.

Snow Queen, The
Synopsis:
Performed by over 70 members of the Chichester Festival Youth Theatre The Snow Queen is a magical tale of transformation, friendship, fantastical creatures and a journey to icy lands which has captured the imagination of children for nearly 175 years.Just like The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid, Hans Christian andersen has created a world of wonder and amazement for children of all ages. One of his rarer, but still iconic, tales The Snow Queen is in fact seven stories in one. Beginning with the tale of a magic malevolent mirror which changes everything good to bad; the main story follows a little girl called Gerda who loses her best friend, a little boy called Kay. armed only with her red kicking boots, some pots of honey and some geriatric magic, join her on a journey through a beautiful bewitched flower garden, down an ice-packed river, when she meets a prince and princess, a rambunctious robber girl and enchanted grannies and granddads from Finland, Lapland and even Chichester. . . all on an epic journey following the Northern Lights to the Snow Queen's Ice Palace itself. Friendship, excitement and adventure are certainly guaranteed in this snowy, icy tale. If you're ready to join Gerda on her quest to find Kay and the Snow Queen, bring all your friends and family - the more the merrier! In the meantime, we'll get ready for the Christmas adventure of a lifetime.
