Synopsis: | The events immediately prior to and during the week of Christ's crucifixion are viewed in historical context. Judas, the business manager and strategist of the band of disciples is con-fronted with an eccentric wish on the part of the "Rabbi," a charismatic, if uneducated Gallilean, to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies by sacrificing himself at the Passover festivities in Jerusalem. Judas struggles to dissuade the Nazarine from such a desperate and foolish plan. Jesus stuns Judas by telling him he must engineer the event by betraying the master to the authorities. Judas, sworn to secrecy, tries to prevent the catastrophe, but finally is caught up in a swirl of events that lead to Judas' destruction and the Nazarine's martyrdom. | |||||
