Synopsis:

Raj is approaching his GCSE exams and so is his friend and next-door neighbour Sukhi. The impact of this and his father's recent redundancy takes its toll on all of the characters but especially on his mother who becomes more fearful of venturing out, of the boiling kettle that reflects her own rising anxiety and her feeling of being trapped in the kitchen where her problems are compounded and highlighted on a daily basis. Its only when Raj's auntie Shimla comes back on the scene that she begins to develop a different perspective on what is happening to her
