About in the Dark, a poetry chapbook; represented in Anthology of Magazine Verse and Yearbook of American Poetry for 1980; poetry in Kansas Quarterly, Chouteau Review, Poet & Critic, Star.Dancer and The Cape Rock. Reci-pient: Commission from Actors Theatre of Louis-ville, 1980, Dennis and Rex.

concerns the efforts of Ed Cel, a late-night telephone operator (and former rock disc jockey/college dropout), to come to grips with his past by facing the people he encounters over the phone and in person. Other characters in the play are: Tanya, a sixty-year-old operator who dreams of sky diving; MelonShine, a black wino and "regular" phone customer; Half-Arm, a Viet Nam vet with an arm gone and a drug habit; 482 JM, a psychology major who works the switchboard at the Tidy Night Inn.
