Synopsis: | Emily Houseman is a recently retired Primary School Teacher, who loved her job, so is feeling a bit useless. She has joined a Latin class, where she meets Rose, a retired Police Inspector, who is a lively character. Rose discovers that the local council want to close the old City Baths, and tells Emily. Much against her will, Emily is 'encouraged' to stand for the council on a 'Save The City Baths' ticket. She has help from her niece, Bea, and her polo playing boyfriend, Gary. Some neighbours, Robert, an unemployed road cleaner, and a University Lecturer with the unlikely name of Professor Percival Pomegranate Chocolate Hob Nob not New Labour Jones are also press ganged into the campaign. Does Emily win? Are the City Baths saved? Friendships are made and cemented throughout this play. Maybe Rose or Emily will find romance. | |||||
