Synopsis:
Exploding with hilarious monologues, soulful skits, embarrassing observations, and intermittent go-go dancing, Stevie Jay takes audiences on a wild journey into the human psyche, painting a picture of Real Life on Earth with personal, uncensored stories about relationships, sex, working out at the gym, working out sexual relationships at the gym--and the endless struggle to remain spiritually oriented and irresistibly gorgeous at all times. In a genre akin to the works of Lily Tomlin, Spalding Gray, Lenny Bruce, and Margaret Cho, Stevie Jay utilizes humor to shed light on cultural myths, societal dictates, ancestral taboos, and a multitude of self-defeating conventions and traditions. ("Stevie Jay presents an evening of dangerous hilarity!" -Ray Faiola, CBS, New York) The show is particularly resonant with the emotional climate of our times, as it explores the destructiveness of labels, dualistic thinking, separatism, love and death, obsessions with fitness, the self-help movement, the thrills and horrors of intimacy, and the need for open-heartedness in an increasingly technological world. The play also features a powerful relationship segment in which the gender of the partner is never revealed; audience members are free to personalize the experience without having to transpose. Running time: 100 minutes
