        Wizard Of Oz, The

Wizard Of Oz, The

Synopsis:
This summer, Haberdasher theatre Inc. celebrates its seventh season with the opening of L. Frank Baums the Wizard of Oz. adapted (drastically!) for the stage by Jeannette Jaquish and altered specifically for Haberdasher theatre Inc., this retelling has no room for lollipops and rainbows! This posh metropolitan spin on the cult-classic lands the Kansas born-and-bred Dorothy - a girl with a heart of gold, an artistic spirit too big for her Midwestern ranch, and not much patience for rules - right smack in the middle of Noho, a place thats surely no place like home! On her cosmopolitan journey, Dorothy navigates much more than the city-that-never-sleeps on her quest to find the Wizard, the guy who must know the secret to making it here - or anywhere! From eastside to West, she encounters mother monster witches with shotguns and wood allergies; an OCD-ridden lioness in need of some serious Prozac; an emotionally damaged tin man who still cant commit; and the starving artist, hippy-dippy, scarecrow type your mom prays you never bring back to the ranch. Will her ruby reds make it through all the pavement pounding? Will these coming-of-agers blow their big break on one glorious afternoon jaunt through the poppies? Only two things are certain: Dorothy didnt pack an extra pair of commuting shoes, and this aint your kid sisters Dorothy story.
