Synopsis:
What happens when a contemporary theatre company sets out to perform classical comedy pieces to a metropolitan audience? LAB Theatre's Comic Interludes brings behind the scenes' on to the streets this Christmas in an exciting masked street theatre show. Pandemonium and chaos reign in the wings of the theatre, and this is Auckland's first all access pass to witness it all! Synopsis: Falvio falls in love with Isabella who is promised to another man (King Yo) by her father Misi. Ofa hatches a plan to swap Isabella for Arlecchino as a fake bride and allow the lovers to escape. Classical Commedia dell'Arte structure with lots of improvisation, audience interaction and masks made by Alberto Sarria (Italy) and Kim Merry (New Zealand). LAB Theatre's mobile stage show has eight actors performing, singing and interacting with the public. Their production Comic Interludes is 30 minutes of mayhem, live music, performance and improvisation - based on the techniques of Commedia dell'Arte, clowning and physical theatre which is inspired by Renaissance European acting troupes and circus.
