Jonathon Temple is nervous because he is going to an interview at a large financial organisation in Hove. He doesn't know whether he wants the job and what makes the situation worse is that his domineering, over-solicitous father, Norman, has accompanied him. On the beach Jonathon meets a carefree, liberated young woman called Beverley Fisher who persuades him to re-evaluate his situation and discover his own path in life.
