Jules Horne was born in Hawick, Scotland, and lived in Bonn, Bern and ReadingJules is a playwright and fiction writer based in Southern Scotland. Jules was awarded the National Library of Scotland Robert Louis Stevenson Memorial Award in 2002 and a Scottish Arts Council Bursary in 2001. For the stage, Jules has written the WIFe OF USHeR's WeLL (Quondam), the DeVIL ON WHeeLS (Nutshell Theatre), and GORGeOUS AVATAR which was produced by the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh and is published by Nick Hern. For radio, her work includes MACMILLAN's MARVeLLOUS MOTION MACHINe (Catherine Bailey Ltd), SMALL BLUe THING (Bona Broadcasting, BBC Radio Scotland), LIFe AN AUDIO TOUR (Catherine Bailey Ltd, BBC Radio 4), OVeRDUe SOUTH (Catherine Bailey Ltd/ Traverse Theatre/BBC Radio Scotland), INNeR CRITIC (BBC 7), A PLACe IN the RAIN (BBC Radio 4, Woman's Hour) and LeFT AT the LIGHTS (BBC Radio Scotland). Jules' most recent play ALLOTMeNT, was produced at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 in a production by Nutshell Theatre in conjunction with the Assembly Rooms (www.assemblyfestival.com). Wife Of Ushers Well, The

Synopsis:
This show is a modern retelling of the supernatural ballad, the story of a soldier son's supernatural return to his mother for one last night together. In the musical storytelling theatre style which has become Quondam theatre's hallmark, this timeless situation of a mother and son fighting to say the things they always meant to say will be one of the highlights of the season at Bowhill. as Karen, a feisty 40 something, fights to keep truths from her ghostly wayward son, they relive moments from his childhood, including favourite Border stories such as the Wizard's apprentice and Thomas the Rhymer. Told in different performance styles with music and song, the show will enthrall, delight and ultimately lift the spirits.
