Burnley Buggers' Ball, The

Synopsis:
In the 1970s, Burnley was the UK's battleground for gay and lesbian rights. Who knew?! To mark the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act (1967), LGBT History Month has commissioned two brilliant new dramas from Inkbrew Production to rediscover this amazing forgotten history. The Burnley Buggers' Ball, by Stephen M Hornby, tells the story of a transformative political meeting held at Burnley Central Library. Allan Horsfall, the grandfather of LGBT rights in the UK, has travelled back in time to 1971, only it's 2017. Something's gone wrong. Allan transforms the space and the audience into the key players in a forgotten historic public meeting in Burnley. Allan was part of a group including Ray Gosling and Ken Pilling, attempting to get the UKs first gay mens' centre opened. The GLF arrive from London and disrupt the meeting, demanding that every gay man is the room stand. Allan has a difficult choice to make, again.

Notes:
The Burnley Buggers' Ball was commissioned by LGBT History Month nationally to mark the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967. It played in a double-bill with 'Burnley's Lesbian Liberator' by Abi Hynes.

No sooner has she convinced us all, than she transforms into a drag queen, Die Anna, who fills us in on what Diana has been up to for the last two decades, how she's made a living and how she still influences the lives of her children. A final transformation sees a young man in a secure hospital become Diana to tell us of a history of violence and self-abuse. Are any of these Dianas the real Diana? Which do you believe, if any?
