Synopsis: It's Masie's 70th birthday and the whole clan is descending on the old family home in the country to help her celebrate. There's Barbara and her husband Rick, Brian and his wife Natalie, and even, (unannounced and out of the blue), Maisie's favourite, Frank, who hasn't been heard of for years. But birthday celebrations are the last thing on anyone's mind. Barbara's plotting to leave Rick, Brian's scheming to get his mother into a nursing home, Frank's after the silver and Natalie is determined to get in touch with her kundalini. Meanwhile Maisie is in turmoil: should she run off to Queensland with her lover, the local doctor? And if she does go, should she tell the children first? There are definitely going to be tears before bedtime. Or, as Leo Tolstoy put it "Happy Families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own special way". | ||||
