Winnie Holzman was the creator and co-executive producer of the acclaimed one-hour television Drama, My So-Called Life,for which she received an emmy nomination and which, thanks to MTV, has been seen all over the world. Born in New York City and raised on Long Island, Ms. Holzman graduated from Princeton University, and later received a scholarship to join the newly-formed N.Y.U. Musical Theatre Program, where she studied with such luminaries as arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim. While at N.Y.U. she wrote the musical Birds of Paradise (with composer David evans), which was produced off-Broadway in 1987 and directed by Laurents. as part of the writing staff of the memorable television Drama created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, thirtysomething, Ms. Holzman wrote nine episodes and received a WGa nomination. More recently she executive produced (again with Zwick and Herskovitz) the award winning Drama seriesOnce and again, which starred Sela Ward. Ms. Holzman is the co-author, with famed songwriter Stephen Schwartz, of the hit musical Wicked, currently playing to packed houses on Broadway, on tour and in Chicago, Los Angeles, and London.

Birds Of Paradise
a famous actor returns home to visit a brother he has not seen in years. the local amateur Dramatics society invite to see a read through of a new musical written by one of their number. the actor decides that he will not only direct but star in a production - not of the musical but his own version of Homer. Just before opening night the actor hears from his agent that he has been offered the lead in a Broadway show. He leaves.

Wicked

Synopsis:
musical based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire. It takes place in the Land of Oz, and tells the story of many of the characters before Dorothy arrived. elphaba, a smart, good-hearted, but misunderstood young woman will green skin, meets the pretty, popular, but snobbish Galinda at school. they become friends, and go on a journey together that takes them to the emerald City, where they meet the somewhat corrupt Wizard of Oz, and eventually forces them to take different paths in adult life. elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, while Galinda becomes Glinda, good witch and ally to the Wizard.
